Technologic Transfer
The AGTEC program will introduce scientific advances and transfer technology from research centers to the field. The agricultural and sound environmental techniques gained from these programs will improve yields and increase income. Through extension outreach programs in rural communities, technical-assistance programs
will include:
• Water conservation and management Program
to address water quality, management and runoff.
• Crop rotation and diversification program
to help farmers improve soil conditions and sell new high-value crops.
• Train farmers on soil erosion reduction
by implementing a soil retention and reforestation program.
• Farmers will learn alternative land uses and diversification techniques in order to improve crop yields, farmer income, and farm sustainability.
|
|
-• A harvesting and post-harvesting program
to improve harvest efficiency for small-scale vegetable and flower growers.
• A food processing program
to enable farmers to add value to their products.
• A bioenergy program
to train farmers on biofuel production and processing.
As a result of the bioenergy program, farmers will reduce crop transportation costs by using biodiesel to take their products to local markets.
